In Their Shoe's Collection by Olivia Franklin

As you may have noticed I have switched to painting shoes. 😋 This by no means what I plan on painting from here on out but I’m exploring other topics. I will still be creating my anatomical pieces just not as often. So don’t leave just yet! I think you are really going to enjoy this new endeavor.

The main reason for switching my focus on shoe's is for my mental health. My anatomical pieces are of strong emotional subjects and as they were very therapeutic, I still felt like I was living in my trauma.

I was inspired to start painting shoe's from a drawing my mom did that I used to admire growing up. It was a charcoal drawing of my grandfather's Army boots.

Looking back I remember when I was a kid and getting your shoes dirty was cool. It’s like you wanted to show that you had lived. That they were part of your journey, because well you’d been through a lot together. Finding my favorite shoes and the feeling of feeling like myself. The validation of that action and knowing YOU ARE WHAT YOU WANT TO BE, all from a pair of shoes.

I hope to reveal the history of your shoes because within the wear and tear of your most loved shoes is a story. A story of who you are, what you like, where you’ve been and it's just waiting to be discovered.

Marilyn Monroe once said, “Give a girl the right shoes and she will conquer the world”.

Do you have a favorite pair of shoes? How do your shoes make you feel? Tell me about them in the comments!

One last thing, my commissions are open and I would love to paint your shoe's! You can email me with any inquiries at ofranklinart@gmail.com.
